Can Aggressive Painful Spine Manipulation Cause Damage To Bone Spurs?

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Jan 2015
Question: I have been told that I have too much spurring in my cervical spine for a surgery. I have been in constant aggravated pain since painful spine manipulation and high velocity thrusts. Can this type of aggressive treatment break the bone spurs, cause further damage or actually help? Right now I only have pain. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Need to find the cause

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.I do not recommend such forceful manipulation and you are right, they may cause the damage. We need to find the cause of your suffering by clinical examination and blood test like complete blood count with CRP(C reative protein),HLAB27,serum RA factor. You may get these test done if not done.
To help you better please tell me-
1.What makes the pain worse / better?
2.What about the other joint like wrist, fingers?
3.Any family history of multiple joint pain?
A visit to Rheumatologist is highly recommended.
Hope this helps and I shall be glad to answer any further query .
Take care
