Can An HSV2 Infection Be Transmitted By Skin To Skin Contact?

default
Posted on Wed, 21 Jan 2015
Question: I have had hsv2 for nearly two years, the other night a guy fingered me for about ten seconds. I'm not sure whether he touched his genitals after but what are the chances of transmission? I had no outbreak at the time.

Hi
Thank you for query. I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.

Hsv2 can be transmitted by skin to skin contact.
Chances are higher if there are active lesions.
The chances are least as there is no active lesions. Also it is unlikely the partner had any contact as per your history.

Usually symptoms develop by 2 weeks if any exposure. You can observe for 2 weeks.
