Can An Expired Implanon Falsify A Pregnancy Test?

I just realised after a conversation with a friend about my recent symptoms that my nexplanon implant is nearly 2 years expired. My periods never stopped with this implant so I just forgot all about it.
My periods are fairly regular but are not in a set amount of days per cycle, so I'm not sure exactly when my next is due. My last one ended roughly 4 weeks ago, but last Thursday & Friday I did have some light bleeding which has never really happened before...my periods usually range from 7-9days of heavy bleeding. Since the light bleeding I've frequently felt sick, lightheaded, bloated, had a few headaches, had a ridiculous amount of discharge & have been constipated for the past 2 days.
A pregnancy test has shown negative, but is it possible that I could be pregnant & just tested too early?
Also if pregnancy is a possibility, is it also a possibility that the nexplanon could affect a pregnancy even when expired?
Thanks
it's unlikely, however better to repeat pregnancy test
Detailed Answer:
Hi there,
Welcome to HCM,
If the symptoms that you are describing, actually due to pregnancy then the pregnancy test would have been positive. As the hormonal changes due to the HCG hormone is the one responsible for the symptoms and these would have been definitely detected by the pregnancy test.
So just take a repeat pregnancy test to confirm if it's negative, get the Nexplanon removed.
If after removal the period still don't come then you could take pills to induce the period.
Though the implant must have expired still some residual effect is likely to be present.
Even if at all pregnant on implant, it will not harm the baby in any way.
Hope this helps.
Regards.
