Can An Unhygienic Environment Cause Recurrent Pneumonia?
Question: Since moving into a new home, my son-in- law discovered that we have black mold growing in my bathroom and the ceiling in which the shower is over. The plumber told us that the wrong piping was used, which caused the water leak. I have been having significant & severe pneumonia, coughing, lots of green mucus, headaches, etc. My question: can the black mold be causing the pneumonia & frequency ? I have had 4 infections since moving here, this time it came on more quickly than the last time. As stated before, we just found out about the black mold because the previous owner did not disclose the problem & covered it up.

Brief Answer:
First of all quit smoking.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, more than exposing to black mold, cigarette smoking is more likely cause for your recurrent pneumonia.
So first of all quit smoking as soon as possible.
There is no other alternative to this.
Secondly clean that unhygienic space.
Thirdly, take pneumococcal and influenza vaccines. Pneumococcal is five yearly vaccine while influenza is annual vaccine.
