Brief Answer:
Antihistamines in favor of causing Alzheimers, no evidence

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.

Based on your query, my opinion is as follows:

1. Regarding the payment for answer, you can ask the customer care or use the following link

2. Regarding your main query, antihistamines due to their anticholinergic effect, could increase risk or possibly contribute to development of Alzheimer's disease. At present, however no evidence exists. Few antihistamines like dimebon is used for therapy in Alzheimer's disease.

3. There are numerous neurological medications including neuroleptics, benzodiazepenes, which can increase the progression of alzheimers disease. Regarding Loratidine, at present no evidence exists. Theoretically possible, hypothesis present, still evidence in favor is not present.

4. Antihistamines due their side effect of drowsiness, mainly cause mental incapacitation. Even though sedation effect is less in newer antihistamines, it is still present. Starting an antihistamine, would not cause Alzheimers disease. Remaining mentally and physically active is the most important thing.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
