Can Anxiety Cause High Blood Pressure?

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Jan 2017
Question: Hello doctor - I'm "exploring" other possibilities for my high blood pressure/anxiety issues and was wondering if an over active adrenal gland could be the cause. I exercise regularly and feel better after exercise and even lower blood pressure after exercising. Please comment.

Thanks

Brief Answer:
Adrenal gland disease can cause high blood pressure

Detailed Answer:
Hello Sir

Yes, indeed there is great degree of possibility of wide blood pressure fluctuations secondary to a known adrenal gland disease or an unknown one.

It's important to screen thoroughly for the same through appropriate tests like Abdominal CT scan and estimation Serum hormonal levels of adrenal gland.

Further management if any is largely based on test results.

Thank you.
