Brief Answer:
The short answer is YES- Anxiety can be the cause for many SYMPTOMS

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

BUT---- In Medicine we always strive to wait on making psychological causes responsible for physical ailments UNTIL we have methodically and thoroughly excluded all OTHER causes for the problem.

In this case, you are apparently off balance which I take to mean "dizzy/vertiginous/unsteady on the feet, etc." Therefore, even though you have 2 bad knees. We would tend to look at imbalance from a neurological point of view as a phenomenon caused by either something wrong with peripheral nerves and nerve fibers found in the feet and legs, something wrong with the spinal cord itself, or something wrong with the brain (cerebellum or brainstem) in terms of reduced circulation or vascular supply.

There are also other reasons that someone could be "off balance" having to do with sufficient quantities of THYROID HORMONES, CORTISOL, POOR GLYCEMIC CONTROL (meaning too much or too little sugar in the bloodstream), or levels of HYDRATION and sufficient fluid/water intake.

My suggestion therefore, is to see either your primary care doctor who can start an appropriate workup and then, call in (if necessary) a specialist (eg Neurologist).

I am happy to answer more questions regarding this or any other case of medical interest. Cheers!
