Can Armour Thyroid Medicine For Hypothyroidism Cause Balancing Issues?

default
Posted on Mon, 12 Jan 2015
Question: I am taking Armour Thyroid for hypothyroidism and having several side effects. My balance is off. Could that be a side effect of the Armour? I have already tried Synthroid, Levothyroxine and Tirosint with side effects. The most troublesome one now is a hard heart beat. I am searching for another med. and found Thyroid Helper. what do you know about it?

Brief Answer:
Cannot replace thyryoid medications!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for using HCM.

I am so sorry to hear about this difficulty you have with your thyroid medications. Your symptoms of hard heartbeat is more concerning about excess levels of thyroid supplements and not low thyroid. Have your TSH level been measured since you started treatment? I hope because am afraid you may have been receiving excess drug levels. What were your usual doses?

Thyroid helper cannot be used in place of thyroid hormones. So please, only consider this after getting your thyroid drugs first.

I hope this helps. If you need more information, please do not hesitate to ask more questions and we would gladly address them.

My TSH was low a few wks ago & my Dr raised my Armour to 30mg from 15mg. I now understand that I was taking it improperly----taking a Calcium supplement too soon afterwards. i contacted the dr. this morning & told the nurse what I had been doing & wanted to correct it & go back to 15mg. We will see where it goes.
I'm glad I asked about Thyroid Helper as I was impressed on their web site and was considering it. I didn't mention that I have had DBS for essential tremor & that too has increased. You didn't answer about the balance problem that no one has figured out. Could it possibly be the Armour?

Brief Answer:
For the balance, we would see what happens after correcting for thyroid.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The balance could be linked to thyroid. With suspected high intake of supplements, this could be a possible explanation. As we get this figured out, we would see if there is anything else that we should be concerned about at this time.

Keep me posted as this get sorted out.
