Can Breastfeeding Make Baby Sleep For Long Hours?
Question: My Son is around 2 and half years now and still wakes up frequently at night(say every 2-3 hrs) and much frequent waking during morning hours. My son doesn't slf sleep and I still breastfeed my son to sleep. Will weaning off from breastfeeding help him sleep for longer duration at night? If that is the case, I will plan for weaning
Brief Answer:
Definitely wean him as soon as possible
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
Ideally we recommend breast feeding only upto 2 years.
At this age it is better to stop soon.
I usually advice giving calorie rich food like Pongal, kitchdi, rice dhal or even eggs at night to satisfy hunger throughout night . Use oil or ghee generously even at dinner .
That will help him get continuous sleep
