Can Cardiomegaly And Pulmonary Venous Hypertension Occur As A Result Of A Major Car Accident?

default
Posted on Fri, 12 Oct 2018
Question: Hi .... on July 1st of this past year I was in a very bad car accident. I was very much out of it... Myself and a young man working with me was T-Boned ... He was killed, as the hit was on the passenger side. We were in my 1 ton pickup and was hit by another pickup pulling a trailer. We rolled 2 times and had to be extricated. I had multiple right rib fractures, large bleed on my left leg, concussion..
A few weeks ago I asked for my medical records to be sent to me from this hospital in a small town. I was surprised to see that I had a diagnosis of Cardiomegaly and pulmonary venous hypertension. Also a Hiatal hernia behind the heart. .... What does all of this mean??????? Needless to say I will never go back to that hospital or that so called Dr. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME INSIGHT.
I did have a Nurse Practitioner just a week ago, order an EKG which came back and it showed "Sinus Rhythm, Nonspecific ST Abnormalities..... ????? what is that??? The NP is out and still has not gotten back with me....

Thank you for your attention
No I was not diagnosed with any medical issues before.
No to mother or father or family members
I don't have echo report but do have ecg.

Dr. I would really like to know what all of these things mean... What's the definitions of these diagnosis. And can they be improved by changes in diet and exercise. You should know I am 5ft. 6.5" tall and now weigh 200 lbs. I have been under a high amount of stress the last 3 years due to my sisters health and her extreme need of my care, ... my work load, and this accident. I am facing a court trial and fight to prove my innocents of the charges brought to me. ... I don't drink or smoke but I have not been very active as far as working out or walking with very little cardio exercise.
I have started on a weight loss program and a much healthier way of eating. Can my life style changes change this condition..... what ever it is....???????
Thank you

Brief Answer:

Non-specific ST T changes

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I have reviewed your both ECG images and I can see there are some non-specific ST T changes.

By non-specific, it means that these changes don't specifically point us towards any specific cardio problem and are seen commonly in females.

Now if the patient doesn't have symptoms like chest pain or heaviness or breathing difficulty or sweating or dizziness on exertion these changes can be safely overlooked.

However, if the patient complains of any such symptoms further evaluation should be done in the form of Echo or stress test like TMT.

Regarding cardiomegaly (heart enlargement), I can't comment upon that as without echo it's not possible to tell whether the heart is enlarged or not.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
