Can Chocolate Be Given To A 7 Month Old Child?
Question: My baby is 7 months old. Is it ok to give chocolate?
Brief Answer:
Hi...give soft chocolate
Detailed Answer:
Hi....you can give soft chocolate which melts to a paste, do not give the hard ones. But there are 2 issues which I would like to bring to your notice....
1. Almost all chocolates contain milk and babies with milk protein allergy may not tolerate them.
2. Similarly all the brown colored chocolates (not the white ones) contain cocoa in them and sometimes this can cause laxity of lower esophageal sphincter triggering gastroesophageal reflux.
But these are just possibilities. If your infant is tolerating and liking them, you can give.
