Brief Answer:
Ciprofloxacin causes false positive test results
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.
Ciprofloxacin belongs to Fluoroquinolones group of medications. These are known to cause false positive drug screen on immunoassay testing of urine samples for opiates. While hydrocodone is a synthetic opiate, methamphetamine is member of the family of phenethylamines which is a potent central nervous system stimulant. However, depending on the manufacturer of the testing kit ciprofloxacin can cause a false positive even for methamphetamines.
Hope your query is answered.
