Can Constipation Cause Anal Fissure?

Question: Thank you, I am a 67 year old male in great health. Eat right, my weight is 175. Recently after a bowel movement I am seeing blood on the tp paper. I thought maybe I wiped too hard, but not the case. Additionally the stools have been less than firm and sometimes when I think I am done, while in the act of wiping, caused me to continue to defecate. I am a none smoker, none drinker. I have a full time job as a custom home project superintendent, active all day. Thank you.
Brief Answer:
Probably an anal tear. Monitor only for now.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Your symptoms are suggestive of a possible anal tear often caused by hard stools. Resolution is often spontaneous and requires no medical intervention. Report any worsening pains or increased bleeding to me for further evaluation. Another possibility, though unlikely is hemorrhoids.
Best wishes and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be. Keep me posted on your evolution.

Thank you for your reply, however my stools are not solid. Not diarrhea either. Even after I eliminate, I still feel as though it was not complete. Another comment I did fail to share was that there is a fair amount of moisture that has from time to time wet my underwear enough to wet the seat of my pants. As if I was seating from the crack of my buttocks.
Can you reply to these symptoms, thank you so much.

Brief Answer:
Could be hemorrhoids!
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This could be hemorrhoids. I will suggest that you get evaluated by your primary care doctor and managed accordingly. With soft stools, it is unlikely that you got a tear from hard stools/constipation.
