Question: Hi

good morning.

my son is 20 months old. we are feeding him milk twice a day. once in early morning around 7 am and another time at 5 pm.

Now the question is my mother is saying to give him cow milk instead of XXXXXXX milk. I just want to check with you before I give him. Do you see any prors and corns of this?

Brief Answer:
As the kid is above 1 year age now - you can give cow's milk

Detailed Answer:
Hi...You can give cows milk as the kid is above 12 months age now. Below that age the possibility of cow's milk protein intolerance may exist but it will be minimal.

You can feed him either cow's or XXXXXXX milk. Both are same. Nothing to say which is good or which is bad.

One another suggestion is that - do not add additives to milk like - nutritional supplements till 24 months of age.

Brief Answer:
Till 2 years age the solute load will be more in kidneys

Detailed Answer:
Hi...I said not to mix any supplements because the kidneys of young kids may not be able to tolerate the solute load sometimes. I am not saying they are harmful, but some kids's kidneys may not be able to bear the solute load in the nutritional supplements.

If the kid is passing urine well with the current supplement you are giving then you need not worry and stop it. That means his kidneys are handling the solute load well.

Actually this is the reason why all the companies which manufacture the nutritional supplements also - quote on the pack - FOR KIDS ABOVE 2 YEARS.
