Can Diabetes Cause Difficulty In Losing Weight?
Question: Hello Doctor, I have been a diabetic for many years and as such I have been exposed to different medications and treatments. However sometimes I still run into questions that I forget to ask my primary Physician as my contacts are but just once every three months. Lately I have been having a bout of difficulty loosing weight. Is this a condition caused by the Diabetes or is this only a condition of my mind.
Brief Answer:
Hello
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Good day.
Diet and exercise are cornerstones in the management of diabetes.
May I know your height and weight?
If you are overweight or obese, diabetes control can be difficult. One should try to lose at least 5 to 10% of the present weight. Difficulty in losing weight is not due to diabetes. If you are doing diet control and exercise, and if still unable to lose weight, we must rule out hypothyroidism and other hormonal disorders which cause weight gain.
