Can Diabetes Cause Heart Palpitations?

default
Posted on Tue, 15 Sep 2015
Question: At times my heart is beating between 100-112 beats per minute. I am not having chest pains but I do get a rather "uncomfortable" feeling. Also my blood pressure has been higher than normal (it's normally around 140/90) and I have been having problems controlling my diabetes.
Could the diabetes cause the palpitations?

Brief Answer:
Not directly would the diabetes cause palpitations

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM. One can get palpitations if their blood sugar is very high or low, however, not by the mere fact that you have diabetes. However, I have treated many diabetics and palpitations is not one of their concerns or symptoms. I hope this helps, good luck and thanks.
