Brief Answer:
Get professional teeth cleaning done.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for the query.
Well, if you have firm deposits over the teeth then doing all the home remedies can only help it to not grow further.
But firm deposits needs to be removed to protect the gums and teeth from infection.
Well, you can do salt water rinses twice a day but as you said that the gums are also red, then it is indicating of infection.
As you already have an appointment with the Hygienist better get your teeth professionally cleaned and then you can maintain the same with proper brushing, flossing and salt water rinses.
But do not overdo anything and get professional treatment first.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
