Can Endometriosis Affect Fertility?
Endometriosis and pregnancy
Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns
YOu recently had laparoscopy for removal adhesions and endometriosis. Your surgery sounds very intense and quite involved. I am not sure why your surgeon would recommend a MRI after your surgery. The MRI would not be for cancer screening as while doing the laparoscopy they would have obtained tissues samples and checked for cancer. I would ask your surgeon directly why you need a MRI. If you are not satisfied with their answer then don't get it. You have the right to know why someone is doing tests on you.
The last question you have is what are your chances of getting pregnant are. At this time you are at the best chance of getting pregnant. The adhesions will reform in the future and will reduce your fertility. So if you want to get pregnant I would again ask your surgeon when you can start trying to get pregnant. They will probably say in the next 2-3 months post surgery.
I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions
endometriosis
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for returning to HCM with your additional questions
You have very extensive endometriosis by your report. This is where the lining of the uterus called the endometrium is implanted throughout your your pelvic region. The surgeon removed most of the areas with endometriosis but you still have areas that are growing. the prostap is a treatment to reduce further growth of the endometriosis.
Lysis of adhesions means the cut adhesions or scar tissue around your uterus and ovaries. Deroofing means they opened up a large collection of endometriosis and drained the material in the cyst.
The MRI maybe to see what other areas in your pelvis has endometriosis and to do staging of the amount of disease in your pelvis. They will not be doing the MRI for investigation of possible cancer.
The biopsies and pathology reports take about 1-2 weeks to get back to the surgeon.
I hope this answers your questions
