Posted on Thu, 14 Jan 2016
Question: I had a facelift 4 years ago. I had nerve damage. Left side cheek area is the area the doctor was focused on post op. They had me smiling and checking the area often during the hospital recovery time. I knew somehing was up. My mouth would turn into a corkscrew twist when I used a straw. now, still twist a little. Not as severe. My smile is crooked so i do not smile. Can this be repaired?

Brief Answer:
Chances of recovery less

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query.
Nerve injuries usually take an year to resolve.
You got the surgery done 4 years back hence chances of recovery is minimal.
Your smile can be restored with another surgery or fillers depending upon the severity of condition.
I suggest you to meet a dermatosurgeon and discuss.
If possible upload a photograph of the involved area. This will help me in giving a better way of management.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.
