Can Foul Smelling Excessive Flatulence And Stomach Pain Be Due To The Milk I Am Breast Feeding My Baby?

I have a problem with my two month old baby girl. I am breastfeeding her and she seems to have a lot of gas in the stomach that she is not capable to get away. Ultimately, they even have a bad smell. Sometimes it seems to me that after she drinks the milk began immediately having pain in the stomach. I feel sorry cause she is a calm baby but suffers a lot and doesn't sleep well because of the pain. can it bee possible that my milk can cause all this gas in the stomach? I am even thinking to stop breastfeeding and to start formula. Please give me an advice.
Thank you.
Breastfeed is the best feed and I suggest you to continue the same
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Breast feed is the best feed for the baby and you are so fortunate that you are breast feeding the baby, as now a days lactational failure is very common.
Colic is common on this age and it can happen with formula feed too. Even the chances of having abdominal discomfort are more with formula feed.
Apart from nutritional superiority breast feed helps in maintaining bond between the mother and baby. It also helps in building immunity which is not in there with formula feed.
I would suggest you to continue the breast feed only. Take some extra measures like burp the baby well after each feed. Avoid food like cabbage, spices, garlic, brinjal and other gas forming items.
You can give anti colic medications like Colicaid or Coaid for colic after consulting your pediatrician.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Regards
