Hello.
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
Yes,it is true that gastrointestinal parasites can cause anal itching and other symptoms like abdominal cramps, diarrhea, chronic fatigue etc.
Parasitic infection and not common in adults and there are many other causes for anal itching like hemorrhoids, skin irritation due to friction or frequent bouts of diarrhea ,yeast infections etc.
I would suggest to consult a physician and get examined.A physical examination can exclude hemorrhoids as a cause of your symptoms.
A stool test would confirm or exclude a parasitic infection.
-I would suggest some additional tests like:
-Complete blood count to exclude anemia
-Thyroid function tests.
Hope it helps.
Please feel free to ask for every question you might have.
Kind regards,

Hello again.
Considering all your symptoms and the fact that you have a child living with you, makes it possible to be a parasitic infection.
A blood test won't detect the parasites.A stool test is necessary for this.
-Complete blood count and thyroid tests are necessary to exclude other possible reasons for your symptoms.
I can understand you are embarrassed to go to your doctor but you shouldn't.As I said a physical examination and the above tests are necessary to find the cause of your symptoms.
There is no reason to think that you are overreacting.
Take care.
