Can General Autoimmune Screening Identify Myesthenia Gravis Specificly? What Specific Blood Test Would Detect This Disorder?

Question: Want to know if general autoimmune screening would identify myesthenia gravis specificly, if not, what specific blood test would detect this disorder?
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
General autoimmune screening is not likely to detect myaesthenia gravis. A special blood test can detect the presence of immune molecules or acetylcholine receptor antibodies.
Single fiber electromyography (EMG) can also detect impaired nerve-to-muscle transmission. Edrophonium test is used to specifically diagnose myaesthenia. You can consult your neurologist to get these tests done.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks for answering my previous questions; can you tell me the name of the blood tests that would be used to detect these antibodies or molecules? Appreciate very much your help. XXXXXXX
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The three laboratory tests that are commonly used for diagnosis of myaesthenia gravis are - serum antiacetylcholine receptor antibody (AChR-ab) assay, the repetitive nerve stimulation (RNS) test, and the single fiber EMG (SFEMG)
Hope my answer is helpful.
