Can Having Graves Disease Cause A False Positive When Testing For RA?
Question: can having graves disease cause a false positive when testing for RA
Brief Answer:
About Graves' disease and rheumathoid arthritis;
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone carefully through your concern.
Graves' disease does not cause false positive rheumatoid factor.
As you may know, Graves' disease is an autoimmune pathology and usually autoimmune pathologies may coexist in a patient.
So a patient with 1 autoimmune disease may have a predisposition for other autoimmune diseases such as; type 1 Diabetes, Celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis ect.
So, you have to start treatment for arthritis if your physician has confirmed it.
Thanks,
