Can Herpes Be Contracted Through Protected Sex?

Question: I had sex with my girlfriend who has herpes, I wore protection everytime and now I don't know if I have it or not. I have been really itchy down there lately. is there a way you can tell if I have it or not from a picture?

I read your question and i understand your concern. Herpes transmits through fluid exchange and if there was protection all along during coitus there is very unlikely to result in herpes and what you are having might be mere the post coital or hygiene related itch. Just maintain a good hygiene, use some hypoallergenic hygiene gel and wash your genitals with it. keep them hair free and see if it improves. There is no harm though in getting evaluated. Just a picture can give a clue but you will need work up to confirm.

Nutshell, unlikely to transmit herpes with protected coitus but no harm in getitng evlauated if symptoms persist.
