Hi there, welcome to HCM.
This is one of the possible causes but it case of hiatal hernia this pain would be associated with other symptoms such as heartburn, breathing difficulties and bloating.
Only this kind of pain would be sign of severe hiatal hernia and other symptoms would already occur.
Other possible causes are stomach ulcer, hepatitis or other diaphragm or thoracal disorders.
To be sure, you should do gastroscopy.
Please let know if you have any further queries regarding.
Wish you good health.

Brief Answer:
need to prove hiatal hernia first
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
If there are no other symptoms then I am not sure if this is hiatal hernia.
Surgery is recommended if there is no improvement on conservative therapy, but hiatal hernia should be first proved by tests, most commonly by contrast swallow imaging or gastroscopy.

Detailed Answer:
It may be gastritis, or stenosis of pylorus, but I dont think this is serious issue.
Try to change your diet and take antiacid medicines for few weeks and see will it improve.
