Brief Answer:
Long standing uncontrolled high blood pressure causes kidney disease

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. The kidney is an important organ for regulation of blood pressure. The kidney has smal units called glomeruli through which the blood gets filtered in small amounts. This happens at a microscopic level.

2. When there is a long history of high blood pressure in a person then there is damage to the filtering mechanism in the kidneys. The result is early nephropathy. The earliest signs of kidney disease due to high blood pressure is increased excretion of proteins in urine and this might be treated with medicines and is reversible.

3. If early kidney disease due to high blood pressure is not treated then there is decrease in functioning which is seen as increased serum creatinine level in blood. If left untreated then it becomes late stage renal disease and is not reversible.

Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
