I failed to discuss it with anybody and after a one month nightmare of having HIV one of my friend suggest me to take a test and tested for HIV. I took the following test in Kolkata India Test taken: exactly as written in the test result: Detection of HIV P24 antigen and antibody to HIV type 1 and/or type 2 (architect abott) (CMIA) (Chemiluminescence Microparticle Immuno Assay) Test time: after 34.5 Days of the incident i.e having sex. Test result: Non reactive. I am very tensed after this mistake. Can I stay relax with this result?

Brief Answer: You HIV1free.Remote possibility of HIV2 ruled out. Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome to HCM. Thanks for posting your query. There is nothing to worry much. The test done for you is the latest 4th generation test and highly reliable. As the test is non-reactive it is definite that you are free from HIV1 which is the commonest HIV disease in India. HIV2 is a rarer possibility (less than 1% prevalence in India). This has not been ruled out conclusively in your case as the P24 antigen test detects only HIV1 and the antibody part of test which could detect HIV 2 also will become conclusive after 12 weeks of the high risk activity. If you repeat the test once again after 12 weeks or with an ordinary rapid test then you will be declared conclusively free from any HIV disease. Dr S.Murugan

Brief Answer: One more HIV 1&2 Negative test confirmatory. Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome back. To declare that you are totally free from HIV, you may need one more antibody based test which includes HIV 2 also, after the completion of window period. That doesn't mean that you are likely to have HIV. Dr S.Murugan

Dear doctor Pls find this link: http://www.healthcaremagic.com/premiumquestions/What-are-the-chances-of-getting-HIV-after-having-negative-HIV-tests/88618 Where you mentioned: "CMIA COMBO HIV test done after 28 days itself proved that you had not infected with HIV. That is a 4th generation HIV test more specific and sensitive. All the test done afterwards were unnecessary and waste of money only. Tests for syphilis and urine culture also were repeatedly negative declared that you free from HIV/STD. No further tests of any sort is necessary. Just forget about that incident and erase it from your life and enjoy you days coming ahead." Is it not applicable for me? Can I not enjoy my life? Its seems horrible every second spending time in internet asking help from doctor. Please try to understand me. If the scope of HIV 2 is so rear should I need worry to much or move on. beg your apologies if I behave bad.

Brief Answer: You are HIV free almost more than 99% Detailed Answer: Hi, Welcome back. The situation in what you quote was different with that of yours. That guy had a protected vaginal and oral intercourse and his concern was just handled the unwashed penis. Actually he did not need any test as the risk is negligible. You had unprotected sex with unknown girl. As you had already ruled out HIV1 infection. Thereby you had crossed the risk almost more than 99%. For the sake of completion I suggest you to have one more HIV2 test to have a total clearance. You can relax even now as your risk remains less than 1%. Don't get upset you will be HIV free.
