Can I Go For Root Canal Treatment Inspite Of Having Damaged Teeth?

One of the teeth of my wife is almost damaged and my dentist is suggesting for Root Canal treatment.
I would like to know will there be any problem in future if we go for root canal treatment. I am asking this as I am getting different opinion from different people
Thanks in advance

No, if the root canal has been done properly.
Detailed Answer:
Hello, XXXXXXX
Thank you for consulting with HCM.
This is Dr. Dipti Singh here to answer your query.
Actually when a tooth is infected, the infection starts from the top part of the tooth called as enamel and then spread to second part dentine and after that it involves the inner most part called as pulp.
So when the infection of tooth spread till the inner most part of the tooth, in that case you have to go for root canal treatment, as if only filling will be done it will cause abscess in the apex of the tooth.
And if the infection has been spread only to the top part of the tooth filling will be sufficient for it.
The level of infection will be better seen on the x-ray of the tooth.
After the completion of root canal treatment, the infection of tooth is resolved completely and there will be no problem in the future, only it should be done properly.
But for a good root canal treatment you should visit an endodontist as they are specialist in root canal procedures.
Hope it will help you.
Thank you
Regards Dr. Dipti Singh
