Question: i have pcos and my periods are delayed ,i take dyphaston (progresterone ) 10 mg a day ,should i raise my dose ?
Brief Answer:
Dose is fine
Detailed Answer:
Hello
My name is Dr Muhammad Ali Rauf & i will look into your problem.
I have gone through your query and would try to help you in the best possible way. In patients of PCO disease, progesterone dose is started from 10mg and of results are not achieved only then dose is increased. Duphaston helps in preparing the uterus for better implantation of the fertilized ovum. So i would suggest you to keep dose to 10mg as advised by your treating doctor at the moment.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help if not then don't forget to close the discussion and rate it.
Wishing you good health !!

thank you for your help,
could pcos hormonal problems cause depression and anxiety?
could pcos hormonal problems cause depression and anxiety?
Brief Answer:
Yes it may
Detailed Answer:
Hello
You are welcome. I'll be available 24/7 for if you need any guidance.
PCO causes depression indirectly by altering some chemical mediators resulting in increased levels inflammatory markers (IL-6,TCF-X, etc). These substances block the conversion of tryptophan into serotonin – your ‘feel good’ hormone. Lower serotonin levels produce symptoms such as fatigue, suppressed appetite, increased sleep, lack of motivation, negative moods, and decreased cognition – the classical symptoms of depression.
Feel free to get back with a query.

Brief Answer:
SSRI shows good results
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Yes they have shown +ve results in treating depression. SSRIs ease depression by affecting naturally occurring chemical messengers (neurotransmitters). SSRIs block the reabsorption of the neurotransmitter serotonin in the brain. Changing the balance of serotonin helps brain cells to send and receive chemical messages, which in turn boosts mood.
