Can I Take Cerazzette To Prevent Pregnancy?
Question: I had sex last night using condom. As my partner pulled out the condom was left at the outer top of the vagina. my periods ended on 29/30 XXXXXXX and today is the 9th. I didnt feel any ejaculation inside but just wanted to be safe. in dubai ECP is not available. I have been taking carezzette before. Can I resume now? will it be effective to prevent any risks of pregnancy. what are the alternatives?
Brief Answer:
IUCD is an alternative.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for consulting us.
Cerazzette will not be effective if you start it now as you are on 9th day of your cycle.
You may have IUCD insertion as a way of emergency contraception within 5 days of the incident.
Combined oral contraceptives taken at a dose of at least 100 micrograms ethinyl estradiol and 0.5 milligrams levonorgestrel can be used for emergency contraception if taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse and repeated after 12 hours. However, it is better to see a doctor for a more personalized advise.
Condom alone is not a very effective method of contraception. Use a regular method for better results.
Take care.

Iucd is what we call copper coil? Is it effective as emergency contraceptive?
In UAE ecp is not available. A pharmacist advised taking yaz that I have started today but it's mid cycle. Will it work or should I get IUCD as u advised?
I could not get IUCD as emergency contraceptive. Instead dr has recommended XXXXXXX of 4 tabs a day(2 tab each 12 hrs apart) for 3 days then one per day as Ecp. Is it effective?

Brief Answer:
IUCD is an intauterine contaceptive device.
Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Thanks for consulting us.
Yes, IUCD is the copper coil & is the second line emergency contraception, if you forget to take ECP. You, can't use it yourself. You need to see a Gynecologist within five days & get it inserted inside your womb. This is a recognized & recommended method of emergency contraception & is effective if used within 5 days of the incident.
Starting Yaz mid cycle is not a recognized method & I cannot recommend it as a mean of emergency contraception.
As far as the other advise is concerned. I have never read or heard of that use of XXXXXXX pills & cannot comment upon its effectiveness.
Wish you good health.
Best wishes.
