Can Inhalation Of Fumes From Plane Exhaust Cause Any Health Complications?
Question: Hello,
I travelled on a plane on Sunday and as I was walking to board the plane in the tunnel area there was a strong smell of exhaust from the plane. It was coming through the grooves in the walls. I was breathing these fumes for 2 minutes as I walked to the plane. I knew these fumes are neurotoxic so I became anxious and I'm still worried that these fumes may have harmed me.

Brief Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM
Detailed Answer:
If you are afraid of some permanent or chronic bad effect for your physical and mental health, then you dont have to be worried. Such incidents can cause immediate breathing or psychological difficulties but if you dont have any symptoms now, then you wont have it later. just try to relax, breathe normally and everything will be fine. Much more intensive and prolonged exposures to fumes are required for some significant neurotoxicity. WIsh you good health. Regards

People were even walking their children and babies through those fumes. Does this mean that the amount of fumes was not enough to cause problems?
Brief Answer:
hi
Detailed Answer:
it was definitely not enough to cause problems. fume concentration is regulated in these areas and it just seemed to you that there was some dangerous concentration of it since you felt strong smell, but these fumes are not more toxic than exhaust from cars for example.
