Can Intercourse Be Done When CCQ-50 Has Been Prescribed?

Question: Hi Doctor,

My wife has been prescribed to use CCQ-50 (2 tablets at once for 5 days). Are we allowed to have intercourse during this period. I am not sure about it. so please suggest

Hello,

Thanks for sharing your health concern with us.

Since your wife has been prescribed Clomiphene, the drug used for induction of ovulation, intercourse should be timed with ovulation.

Ovulation usually occurs around 5 days after completing the course. If you have a normal semen count, regular intercourse is advised at least on alternate days during this period.

If the semen count is low, IUI is preferred for better results.

I would suggest abstinence during the five days of medication for better results. Intercourse can begin after completing the course.
