Can Low Dosage Of Naltrexone Be Given To Manage Hashimoto's Thyroiditis?

Question: Dr. RYNNE : i HAVE heard that Low Dose Naltrexone would be beneficial for Hashimoto Hypothyroidism and possibly other problems I may have like fibromyalgia. Do you have an opinion?

Hello and thank you for asking!
You should know that Hashimoto thyroiditis is a chronic disease and armour thyroid is a life long therapy, but the dose should be adjusted according to TSH level.
Naltrexon is not recommended to treat Hashimoto, It belongs to opiate antagonists and is used to treat alcohool abuse.
It is not approved to be used in Hashimoto thyroiditis, neither in fibromyalgia.
You can attach the last result of TSH and the actual dose of armour thyroid, so I can help you to adjust the dose.
