Question: I take Plavix and a lot of pills fell on the kitchen floor which could use a cleaning. They were on the floor in less than a minute and I put them back in the bottle. Are they ok to use in the future?

Brief Answer:
Pills can be used if it fell on the dry floor, after wiping with dry tissue

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. The most important criteria before using pills which have fallen on the kitchen floor is the cleanliness of the floor itself.

2. I guess that your kitchen floor is mopped every day.

3. If the floor was dry then the pills are relatively safer to consume than if the pills fell on a wet floor. I will not recommend using the pills if the floor was wet.

3. It is suggested that if the pills fell on the dry floor then you can wipe the pills on a dry tissue and then transfer them to the bottle.

4. You should not use wet tissue or water to clean the pills because they will dissolve and the pill and this should not happen

Hope your query is answered.

I was away for a while And the floor had not been mopped in a month. They were on the floor for only a minute. Are they still ok if I clean them with a dry napkin?

Brief Answer:
Please check pills individually and use only under following conditions

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. There is no significant problem as long the kitchen floor is cool and dry, keeping in mind that it was mopped a month back and the pills were on the floor for less than a minute. In this case cleaning them with a dry napkin is fine.

2. If you stay in a place with high humidity then the pills should be discarded because fungus and bacteria can thrive in a humid environment and get on to the pills.

3. Please check the pills individually whether the coating is intact. If the coating falls off or the pills are getting stuck to each other then you should not consume it.

Hope your query is answered.

Brief Answer:
The plavix pill has a protective film coating which dissolves after swallow

Detailed Answer:
Hi xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Every plavix pill which is taken orally has a protective film coating which safeguards the medicine. When the pill is swallowed then the coating dissolves and the medicine enters the system.
