Can Missing An Antipyretic Dose Cause Any Risks After Recovering From Viral Fever?
Question: My child aged 5&1/2 years has just recovered from Viral fever after 3 days.Today it is Fourth day and he is having no fever since morning.I gave him MeftalP(100mg/5ml) at 04:30PM accidentally. It is also brought out that no Antipyretic has been administered today since morning. Is this a matter to be worried.
Brief Answer:
No need to worry
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for asking on this platform
I won't get worried as this dose usually does not cause any problem.Meftal P is used in fever to bring down the temperature. But if given to a child with normal temperature it usually does not causes further fall in temperature because of body's regulatory mechanism.
As already 5 hours has been passed it's unlikely to develop complication now.
Just monitor for temperature and if you notice that child is very cold(which is unlikely) please get him to a pediatrician.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any more questions.
