Can My Mother Have Zoril M2 Instead Zoril M1?

Question: Hi,
My mother has diabetes and has been having Zoril M1 for many years. Recently the shape of the tablet has changed, and she is unable to swallow it. Can she have Zoril M2 instead? What would be the dosage? She has one tablet of Zoril M1once a day currently.

Brief Answer:
Components are slightly different in dosage.
Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Zoril-M1 and Zoril M-2 are combination drugs that contain metformin and glimipride. However the amount of individual drugs are slightly different, Zoril M1 contain 1000 mg metformin and 1 mg glimipride where as Zoril M2 contain 1000 mg metformin and 2mg glimipride.
So it is better not substitute the two drugs. If there is difficulty in swallowing you can break the pill in to two for ease of swallowing ,you can also try different brand also.
Thanks
