Can Obesity And Ageing Contribute To Lung Issues?

default
Posted on Fri, 1 Jul 2016
Question: Things are going outstandingly well with my anxiety. My breathing has improved greatly. I have fewer and fewer episodes of SOB and panic.

I have a big question for you today, otherwise i would have waited a few days before checking in.

I was speaking/communicating with my psychiatrist regarding all that has been going on. He has seen the PFTs and all other reports same as you have. He too sees my issues in the same way as you. He has been very vocal that there is no lung disease to talk of. Thinking that way, as I should, I should then have no real issues that one with lung disease might get when climbing long stairways.
Then is it safe to believe that my breathing harder is because I am out of shape, older and need more exercise.

I am 57, 5'8 185-190 lbs. I have put on about 30 lbs since this began. I hope to see it disappear soon. As I get better it should go down.

What I really was thinking or asking was because of the inactivity and the aging would this be a good explanation. You agreed with the aging so I will assume that the little exercise I have had over the past few years has done this

I use to get up at 4:30 in the morning and take my 4 dogs on a kilometer walk every day. Then as the dogs got old and died I slowly stopped. I guess I can go alone. It was nice to walk when weather was warm. Did not care for the days with cold and snow

Walked the dogs for about 7-8 years. Walked the dogs in the morning every day. At night I would ride bike. But that was every other day. Weather permitting.

I would get up at 4:30 because I would be at work around 6:15 but I sometimes went to fitness center early.

When my granddaughter arrived, and my mother got worse, and my ex divorced me. I slowly stopped doing all this because of stress and the many things I started doing like helping mom more

I now leave for work at 6:15. I have a long drive and start work at 7

Well, this day is rotten for controlling anxiousness. It has nothing to do with worry on breathing but with things continually going wrong at work. It has me edgy, worrying what I will do wrong next. Not fun at all

Waist was always between 31-33. Once got down to 30 and that was not good. My best weight was around 158-162

No weight gain recently, I picked up the added weight over a year ago. It has been holding since
