Can Obesity Be Managed By Taking Phentermine For A Long Term When Diagnosed With Arthritis And Pre-diabetes?

Question: Hi, I am 71 years old and having an impossible time trying to lose weight. In the past, I have found phentermine helpful but doctors won't seem to prescribe it very long and then I go back to my previous weight. Since I am 220 and 5'2", am pre-diabetic on metformin, have arthritis in 3 joints (thus find it difficult to exercise), no heart or bp problems, medication for lipids, would it be more injurious to my health to take phentermine long term, if I can get it, or continue with the obesity related health problems mentioned above as well as central obesity?
Brief Answer:
Try Orlistat
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
See, there is no short cut to weight loss. You need balanced diet, right exercise. Medicines can only help you to some extent.
In your case scenario I would suggest 2 medicines:
1. Empagliflozin (Jardiance) is a that is a diabetic medication and has proven weight loss and cardio protective actions.
2. Orlistat - it excreted 30% of your dietary fat on feces. Can be taken 120 mg thrice daily with meals.
Along with these drugs, exercising and eating healthy would definitely cause weight loss to you.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query please ask me.

Thank you. Are the health risks associated with Phentermine greater than the health risks of my BMI?
Brief Answer:
i would not recommend
Detailed Answer:
Hi, i would not recommend Phenteramine for long course. Risk is more as compared to benefits in long duration use.
Discuss with your doctor about my treatment. You will certainly get advantages with that.
Good Luck.

What do you think about Victoza as I am pre-diabetic. I think it can also help with weight, can't it? Which is better that or Jardiance. Side efffects of orlistat are too much for me.
Also: whAt helps osteoarthritis if you can't take NSAIDS/?

You can consider it.
Detailed Answer:
Yes, you can consider Victoza or Jardiance for blood sugar control and weight loss. I am happy with that too.

Thanks. How do you know if you are getting too much calcium in that it will be in your blood and cause cardiac concerns?
Brief Answer:
Why to take.
Detailed Answer:
Hi. I don't recommend calcium daily for whole life. If your calcium and vitamin D levels are normal, then there is no point of taking them regularly.
However, it's still not proved that taking calcium will get deposited in your arteries.
Good luck.
