Can One Conceive While Treating PCOS?
Hello doctor, i would like your opinion. I am trying to get pregnant for the first time ever. I am 26 years old and my fiancee 27. We have been trying for 5 months without success. I did blood tests and i have PCOS but my period is normal, every 26-27 days, and 3 random times that i have visited my gynecologist this year all 3 times the ultrasound showed a mature follicle. So i am 99% sure i'm ovulating. I have no cysts. Do you think i have to go to a infertility specialist? How long does it usually take to get pregnant? We never have intercourse ALL the 3 days leading to ovulation. 1 or 2 days maximum. Maybe this isn't enough? Thanks!
No suspicion of fertility problems
Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to HCM Forum. Thanks for trusting us with your health query. I have read your query and understand your concerns.I am Dr Manisha Jain and I practice as an infertility specialist. There are 20℅ chances of conception in each cycle. It is not uncommon to conceive after 9- 10 months of unprotected intercouse. In medical terms it needs 12 months of unprotected intercourse to suspect fertility problems. So after 5 months ( in your case) it is difficult to say that whether you have fertility problems or not. It is very reassuring to hear that you have regular cycles and having a mature follicle,so you have very nice chances of conceiving . You can try following points which can help.
Do intercouse every alternate day near your ovulation , between 10 th and 18 th day of your cycle.
Do intercouse in missionary position.
After intercouse lie calmly on tour back with a pillow below your hips.
Also can you tell me your thyroid levels and prolactin levels from your blood work.
Regards Dr Manisha Jain
Tests advised
Detailed Answer:
Yes dear get these tests along with thyroid hormone levels and semen analysis of your husband.
Try above mentioned precautions and if the tests are normal then probably you guys have a very good chance of conception.
All the best.
