Thanks for sending your query to us.
Criteria for surgery in cases of cataract is one the level of vision and two the difficulty in day to day activities.
The insurance people will be satisfied with your vision level. This will be indicated by number of lines you can on vision chart and this will quantity the vision loss.
I expect this will be good enough for you. Any further query in this regard please do get back to me.

Dr, I just simply want to know, is there any way possible to determine the period of "dimness of vision". In case of cataract.
My Dr have already established this to be cataract after all the testing. And my problem with my vision. And I am satisfied with it.

I just wanted to know, is there any option available which can determine my period of dimness of vision.
If so, then plz suggest. This will help my decision to undergo the surgery with insurance or without Insurance.

I meant by period of dimness of vision is the period from which cataract affects the patient vision prior to surgery.
My insurance company wants a certificate from a doctor which should indicate the period from which my vision was affected due to cataract causing dimness.I want to know is there any method by which it can be measured. As my doctor is unaware of it. If you tell me that particular way, I will ask my doctor to do so. Or consult someone else who knows about it.
Kindly tell me that method with which it can be determined

Brief Answer:
Pre surgery requirements

Detailed Answer:
My dear,
Good of you to get back to me.
These requirements are very individual. There are approximately 7 lines on the vision chart.I have operated in my practice people who were able to read 5 lines but they were having difficulties in night driving. On the contrary there are patients who can barely read 3 lines and say that they are ok and do not need surgery.
This period od dimness can be started from the time you were diagnosed with cataract till today. You can ask your doctor to denote this period in a certificate.
I hope my suggestion will be of help to you.
