Brief Answer:
You are getting proper treatment

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have had a history of abuse using bath salts and not feeling depressed and suicidal. You are in a facility currently where you are getting proper supervision and treatment. I think you are doing exactly as you should be doing. You are getting counseling and taking medications to help reduce your anxiety and depression symptoms. There is very little else that can be done. There is no easy fix for this type of problem. You need to be taking the medications as directed and seriously working on the counseling material. Without the two you may fall back into abuse.

I am sorry there is nothing additional I can offer but I encourage you to maintain your current path.

I have not been able to sleep which isn't helping and am only getting group counseling that includes people with even just mild daily alcohol intake. Is there a location in the Chicagoland area that may specialize in this or a specialist?

Brief Answer:
Sleep aids

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for returning to HCM with your additional questions

You are having problems sleeping which is making your anxiety and depressions worse. To help improve your sleep I would recommend using benadryl. It is not the best medication to help sleep but helps. Using alcohol will only make things worse as it really does not allow for restorative sleep and it is a depressant so it will make depression worse.

If you have a medical provider there are a few medications that can help sleep without causing addiction. I usually recommend using trazodone or mirtazipine at night. These are anti depressants that have sedative side effects and help you sleep.

I am not from the XXXXXXX area so I do not know of any providers. I recommend that you look for a family practice physician that can help with depression or anxiety or for better coverage a psychiatrist who may specialize in abuse issues. I am sorry that I can't be any more help in this area.

In summary
1. try benadryl for sleep
2. avoid alcohol as it worsens your condition
3. Prescribed medications trazodone or mirtazipine
4. See family practice or psychiatrist

I hope I answered your question. Please contact us again if you have any additional questions or comments
