Can One Incidence Of Taking Tylenol After Having A Drink Irreparably Damage The Kidneys?
I have had flue for 4 days 6 weeks days back...so i took paracetamol for 6 days every day 2 tablets(500 MG). And a week after i went for all medical check up and every thing is normal except b12 & D vitamin and same day that i took 1 standard drink of alcohal and took Tylenol (2 tablets) due to aches after flight journey. But a week after i experienced right side pain a for 2 days on sides like external oblique when walking on twisting . And 3 weeks after some kind of un explained dull pain for few seconds left side of external oblique ...side but not contineous and not in sleep. So i was worried that one time of drink(30 ml) and Tylenol caused any thing bad to my organs. I usually never take any pain killers or paracetamol unless prescribed by Physican and i never took tablet pain killer earlier with alcohal. I am panicing after reading google article even one dirnk with tylenol 2 tylenol damages kidneys. Do I need to go for kidney function test....I am totally depressed. I am spending sleepless nights due to this.
Please advice.
No worries
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I've read your text carefully and I can assure you that there is no danger for your kidneys for the following reasons:
- Paracetamol very rarely causes renal damage and it is very unlikely to do so with such a low dosage.
- Taking paracetamol with alcohol does not really increase the risk for kidney damage. It may increase the risk for liver injury but the low dosage that you've used does not raise concerns.
- The symptoms that you've mentioned are not indicative of renal toxicity.
In conclusion, I don't see any reasonable concerns about your kidneys but in case you still have doubts you can measure your serum urea and creatinine, as these are the most important indicators of renal dysfunction.
I hope you find my comments helpful! Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks for the review of my concerns and advise. Actually i have undergone for whole general body check up on Feb 22 including the Kidney function test and abdominal scanning where the results of creatnine is 0.9 mg/dl and Urea is 17.
On the same day after checkup... in the evening i took tylenol and 1 drink. . Its been a month.
Kindly advise if i still need to go again for kidney test since i took tylenol and drink after my test by mistake.
Thank You...!
Don't worry!

Hello,
Don't worry about taking this very low dose of Tylenol with some alcohol. Your kidneys are not supposed to hurt at all!
Hope I have answered your query.
