Can One Test Positive For HIV While Wife And Children Are Tested Negative?

default
Posted on Fri, 6 Feb 2015
Question: I just want to know if their is anyway I could be infected. I am trying to get life insurance and after reading all of the documentation, it's a bit intense. I have been with my wife 5 years, we have had 2 children and she was tested for both and was negative, Could I test positive from life before marriage? I have never come close to being with anyone outside of my marriage. I read things and my mind just gets stuck on things which then create these anxieties. I have never felt bad or anything like that.

Brief Answer:
Sorry, but I need to know which infection?

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I completely understand your concern, but I first need to know which infection we are discussing? You mentioned having tested positive for some infection, but failed to mention it, which is why I wish to ask which infection specifically are we speaking about?

My next question is whether or not you have already undergone the test for the infection in speaking? If so, what was the result? As these things were not clearly mentioned in your query, I only wish to clarify the same in order to accurately provide you with a good response.

I look forward to hearing from you in order to help you further sir. Please also feel free to write back to me with any additional information that may prove to be insightful or for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Few scenarios put forward sir

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

Please do not apologise, these things happen. Sometimes we are thinking about something so much that we feel the opposite person knows exactly what we are talking about.

Sir, please understand that if at all you have never been in any sexual relationship outside your marriage here are the following scenarios:

1. If at all you are suspecting to have contracted the infection from outside your marriage, i.e. before your marriage then you should have transmitted the infection to your wife by now and she would have tested positive for the infection

2. There are so many causes for a false-positive result and so I would recommend a repeat testing if at all you have already tested and reported a positive result

3. There could be a possibility of contracting the infection sometime recently wherein you were exposed to an infection, blood transfusion, or an open wound exposed to some one else's blood, etc.

I would either way recommend a repeat test for both you and your wife just to make sure we can reach a true result. I hope I have explained things in a manner best understood by you, please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help you.

Best wishes.

And I have absolutely never tested positive for HIV. No one has tested positive for HIV. My wife tested Negative for both of our children over the past 6 years I have just been reading how some folks are together and only one is infected with HIV while the other is not. I thought this was odd. I have been with my wife almost 6 years with no other person besides my wife. That being said, is it possible I could have caught HIV in my past while no one including my wife and children have been infected. I am obsessed by this topic and become over anxious, as well as go overboard about just about everything, so when reading online, I had to ask about this.. thanks

Brief Answer:
You have nothing to worry about, that scenario is unlikely

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again sir.

Thank you so much for that information sir.

These scenarios are highly unlikely and in my opinion it is highly impossible for your wife and children not to have HIV while you have it. So please stop worrying about it sir.

Trust me, you are perfectly healthy and should be and have absolutely nothing to worry about. There are so many people who have been diagnosed with HIV and still do not worry as much as you are sir.

If you do not mind, could you go ahead with a HIV test just to out yourself at ease and me. I am sure you will return a negative result and that should put you to ease. I completely understand how some things can really get you worried, but I am sure you will be fine sir. Please also do not hesitate to write to me anytime, I am always here to help.

Best wishes sir.
