Question: Hi doctor,

My son who is 13 months old has accidentally got a small cut in his finger and he was bleeding, we have done first aid with dettol and put a band-aid on it. However, we think he got hurt due to a sharp stainless steel edge in an object but we are not entirely sure, is it necessary to get a Tetenus injection? We are traveling to Europe tomorrow and we do not want him to be in some trouble in the journey too.

Thanks & Regards

Brief Answer:
He doesn't need tetanus

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Tetanus injection is not needed if the baby's immunization has been done according to recommendations of national immunization schedule of India. The previous immunization as DPT will protect him against tetanus.

Hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
