Can Oral Antibiotics Treat Fever?
Question: Hi i had fever few days ago yesterday doctor gave me after taking out blood test cefpodoxime and ofloaxacin 200-200 mg tabs.He also gave me syrup which contains ambroxol,salbutamol sulphate and guaiphenesin.He also gave me ranitidin. I am from XXXXXXX age 33 yrs.weight 90kg.BP normal.He is saying to me to further to come and take a drip injection of antibiotics which will improve my situation.Do not these medicines enough for this?I have to take above for 5 days.still is it necessary to go and inject antibiotic.

You have mentioned you have fever , but do you have Cough also ? ( As you have been prescribed Cough syrup ).
Well at present there is definitely no need to Injections , if there is no vomiting and you are tolerating the oral tablets well. But if you are unable to eat the medications due to vomiting then Injections are warranted.
I recommend you to continue with Oral Antibiotics only.
