Can Pre-ejaculate Cause Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Wed, 14 Oct 2015
Question: I dont fully understand why some doctors claim pre ejaculate can cause a pregnancy. I have done samples on pre ejaculate and semen. 2 different substances. The ejaculate contained sperm. And a lot of it. However pre ejaculate. Did not ever contain 1 single dead or alive sperm. I'll upload pictures the first will be semen. There not the best pictures but you can clearly see the sperm. Second will be pre ejaculate. I did not see any sperm in there. However could one of you doctors tell me what's in it?

Brief Answer:
Pre ejaculate contains a very small amount of sperm

Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

I understand you confusion when you have been looking at pre-ejaculate fluid not containing any sperm. The reason that you can't see them is that there is only a small number of sperm. To be able to actually visualize the sperm in pre-ejaculation fluid is to use a centrifuge to spin down the fluid and pull the sperm to the bottom of the specimen jar. We do know there will be a few sperm and the chance for causing pregnancy is very low but all it takes is just one of those sperms to fertilize an egg. So your photographs will not show sperm because have not used a centrifuge to separate out the sperm.

So if I use a centrifuge I will be able to see the sperm in pre ejaculate. I have magnified at 1000x and still have not seen one sperm if that is what's needed to see it then. I will prob go to fertility doctor. I have been using withdrawal method for years now and not one pregnancy. The evidence seems to be mixed. Most of the research tho there isn't very much on it seems to say no sperm or dead sperm in it. But one did find motile sperm in some men.

Brief Answer:
Infertility

Detailed Answer:
If you think you are infertile than you definitely need to see a fertility doctor and have a sperm analysis done. In addition to the number of sperm in your ejaculate is counted but other factors like viscosity, pH, mobility and morphology will all impact fertility.

You may see sperm in your ejaculate if you have a centrifuge but it your be very few in number. Using the withdrawal method for birth control is an unreliable method but if you have been doing it for years then count yourself lucky.

Thank you, but I don't think I'm infertile. I'm sure if I was trying I could have a kid within a year or so. I am actually believe it or not not the only one to use this method I have friends I've grown up with who actually told me about it. Most of them have kids now that were planned. My best friend and his wife did it for 2+ years with no problems. And when they were trying only took them 2 months. I had found out at that point and was told by my doctor that pre ejaculate is mad separate from semen and sperm is not necessarily supposed to be in it. But he did say that people claim to get pregnant from it. And if your telling me there is sperm in it all the time ever time, then I'm definitely not doing it again. Thank you doctor!
