Can Prolonged Use Of Salbutamol Lead To Psychosis?
yes it is possible
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query.
I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through.
Yes you are right in your suspicion. Among your asthma medications, fluticasone proprionate can produce psychosis. Sometimes it occurs during short course while in certain cases, it can happen after a long term treatment.
First line would be to gradually taper of fluticasone and then to start on an antipsychotic. The good part is that the psychosis is very much reversible and you will be fine soon.
Do discuss with your physician about witdrawing the fluticasone if you have developed psychotic symptoms.
Hope I am able to answer your concerns.
If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you.
