Can Red Bumpy Blisters In The Vaginal Area Be Due To Vaginal Herpes While Having Small Sores On My Labia And Low Grade UTI?
Question: I have small sores on my labia. I thought this might be because I've been flushing, out through urine, a low grade UTI in my kidneys and the urine was irritating my vaginal area. But, the little red bumps then turned to small blisters. I checked this in symptoms and come up with vaginal herpes. I'm 68 yrs. old. never had any type of herpes. I live with my boyfriend who is 74. We both had long term marriages. I had no sex for over 17 yrs. he had very little through his marriage and had been celibate for 7 years when we got together. Can herpes stay latent in the body from when we were 20? Suggestions now?
Brief Answer:
Herpes can remain latent for years.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Herpes can remain latent in the body for long periods of time and can show up later. The symptoms that you have can be related to herpes or a simple bacterial vulval infection due to vulvovaginitis.
It is best to get a blood test and a smear test done for confirmation of the diagnosis so that specific treatment can be started.
