Question: Can soda cause cancer
doctor
Answered by Dr. Shanthi E (3 hours later)
Brief Answer:
There is indirect relationship between the two

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for posting your query. I have read it.

There is indirect relationship between soda consumption and cancer. Soda consumption does not directly cause cancer. However, regular consumption of high quantities of soda is a risk factor for developing certain cancers. This is because of the high sugar content in the excess soda consumed. The high sugar content increases bodyweight, eventually leading to obesity. Overweight and obesity are known risk factors for breast, bowel, pancreatic and other cancers.

There are certain studies that show very low levels of chemicals such as benzene and 4-methylimidazole (4-Mel) in certain soft drinks that could cause cancer, but there is no evidence they increase the risk of cancer when taken at low levels.

I suggest you to keep the daily soda intake to optimal or minimal level.

Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have more concerns.

Regards,
Dr Shanthi E

Answered by Dr. Shanthi E (5 hours later)
Brief Answer:
please get an eye examination done

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

You are cracking your knuckles constant; may be you are little anxious. I suggest you to relax, and ignore that. You will be fine.

The red bumps by your nails could be due to constant pressure. Do not fiddle with them. Apply some moisturizer over the area, it will soon be gone.

As for your floating black spots across the left eye, it could be due to dehydration or dry eyes or even cataract. I suggest you to get an eye examination done by an Ophthalmologist. The doctor can easily rule out any of the above existing problems, and suggest you treatment accordingly.

For now, you can use artificial tears to wet your eyes or keep them hydrated. You may use Refresh tears eye drops 2 drops in both eyes every 2 hours. The medicine is available over the counter, you can purchase if from any local pharmacy. You may look for alternatives to Refresh tears, if that is not available.

Hope this helps.
