Brief Answer:
Seborrheic dermatitis

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the query and photograph.
It is seborrheic dermatitis a common condition.
Just relax there is nothing to worry, however it's good that you get these checked regularly.
Sometimes there is a risk of development of Actinic keratosis a premalignant condition.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

I also had 5 biopsies done last year. I different place I normally go to. They wanted to do more surgery. I showed my normal skin doctor and he was angry that they wanted to do more surgery. He said lots of my moles are like this. Is that what you think by the report?

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
Your biopsy report says mildly atypical cells which means that you need to keep a close watch.
Although there is no cancerous change but if you notice a sudden increase in size or bleeding from any of these patches then you must visit a doctor.
As of now the lesion doesn't appear to be cancerous.
Just keep a watch if it changes size.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you

With the miles not being there anymore do I still need to keep an eye out?
I have Dysplastic nevus syndrome. Have heaps of atypical moles. Have had 17 cut out now over time.
The last photo I added is the left side of my head. Does everything look ok in it?

Is it too late to have them further cut out?
Do you think I need to?
Will it become visible still if they turn bad?

Answered by Dr. Dr. Rahul Kumar (14 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Nothing dangerous

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for the follow up.
The lesion on your scalp doesn't appear to be dysplastic, however as you have history of dysplastic nevus it's better to have a look at all the moles for any changes such as sudden increase in size or bleeding.
Just relax it's nothing dangerous.
It will become more obvious when it turns bad.
You will be easily able to spot the dysplastic nevi, just a check is required as these cause no symptoms.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you

With the biopsies. Is it too late to have more cut out? Is it necessary?
Will I see if it goes bad if mole isn’t there anymore?

I just saw a professional skin cancer doctor and said the biopsies are fine and no need for further surgery. Is that what your thoughts are?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rahul Kumar (12 hours later)
Brief Answer:
No atypical cells

Detailed Answer:
Hello
As you have dysplastic nevus syndrome, a mild grade of dysplasia will be there in biopsies.
However there are no atypical cells and no signs of malignancy in any of these biopsies, hence it is not required to undergo further surgeries.
If a lesion becomes cancerous it's appearance will be different and you will come to know.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you

Ok thanks, been having anxiety about it.
So when report says atypical doesn’t mean cancer or needs further surgery? And most of my moles will be atypical?
Is this report just a normal report for someone like me?

Do only atypical moles with signs of cancer need fully removing?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rahul Kumar (23 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Details below

Detailed Answer:
Hello
If you have a look at the biopsy report it says mild cytological atypia.
This means that there is mild risk of cancer development however it is practically impossible to remove all the moles so keep a watch on the moles which are bigger in size or are growing rapidly.
Get them removed.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you

Thanks, yes I get any removed I don’t like.
Lastly with the biopsies. So they are fine now? And don’t need anymore surgery at this stage?
If mole grows back will the doc still be able to see if it goes bad and catch it before it gets dangerous?

Also sorry one last thing. If they haven’t grown back by now are they likely not to grow back?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rahul Kumar (40 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Moles will not regrow

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Once fully removed, the moles generally don't grow back however new moles can develop.
Definitely a doctor can tell if a mole is going for cancerous change or not.
Just get follow up atleast once in 2 months.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you

Ok. With the biopsied moles I’m not sure they got them all. Can you tell by the report? They haven’t grown back in over a year, are they likely to not grow back now. If one or two will they stay the same sort of mole? I don’t need to worry about them you think?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rahul Kumar (29 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello
As I mentioned earlier, once removed the moles won't regrow.
Don't worry about them.
Just have a watch on the existing ones, if one of these start growing rapidly or appear different from other moles then you should get yourself examined.

Ok. Number 3 on biopsy has grown back a little bit. Does it look ok? One on hip has a little pigmentation. One on back hasn’t grown and can’t see the other 2.

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up.
A little bit growth post excision is totally normal.
Moles are collection of melanocytes ( pigment forming cells)
Even if few cells remain they will regrow.
Just relax it's harmless.
Let me know if you have any other doubts.
Thank you.

Is it normal for a mole to get a white circle of skin around it? Is it halo mole? I have this pinkish mole on side of head and just noticed a white circle of skin around it.

I have white skin that follows my hair line around. Could it be vitiligo? Seems the white patch around mole as well is a bigger patch.
Do you have to worry about melanoma elsewhere in body from a halo nevus?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Rahul Kumar (13 hours later)
Brief Answer:
Not halo nevus

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for the follow up and photograph.
